Refractory Angina (RA) is a chronic condition (lasting more than 3 months) characterized by a feeling of pain or pressure in the chest due to myocardial ischemia and persists despite optimal medical or surgical treatments. Angina pectoris is chest discomfort that occurs when the heart muscle doesn’t receive sufficient blood supply. Refractory angina refers to long-lasting symptoms (for >3 months) due to established reversible ischaemia, which cannot be controlled by escalating medical therapy with the use of 2nd- and 3rd-line pharmacological agents, bypass grafting, or stenting.
